You simply cannot visit California without making a pit stop in Malibu! It is one of my favorite beaches and day trips to escape the hustle and bustle of Downtown LA.
Malibu, California is a legendary coastal city known for its stunning views and the plethora of beaches, mountains, and trails. It is located 30 miles west of downtown Los Angeles and is bordered by Topanga State Park and the Santa Monica Mountains. The city has become associated with sun, surf, and celebrities, and hosts some of the most luxurious and exclusive real estate properties in the country.
The city has 27 miles of beaches and coves, making it the perfect destination for anyone who loves to surf, bodyboard, or stand-up paddleboard. Along with its multitude of beaches, Malibu also offers a range of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, kayaking, and horseback riding.
The city is home to a variety of art galleries, specialty shops, and fine dining that appeal to visitors from around the world. With its proximity to Los Angeles, Malibu is an ideal spot for weekend getaways or extended vacations. Whether you’re looking to relax on one of Malibu's incredible beaches or take in the spectacular new nightscape, this coastal city is sure to be your perfect escape.
Beachin' and Sunbathin'
Enjoy a day at Zuma Beach - Zuma Beach is one of Malibu's most popular beaches, with two miles of sand and plenty of activities, like surfing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and sunbathing. Wear your sunscreen; the California sun is NOT to be played with! I promise you.
Relax in Malibu Lagoon State Beach - Unwind at this picturesque beach, which features views of Malibu Pier and the Santa Monica Mountains. Malibu Lagoon State Beach is an infamous beach located in the coastal town of Malibu, California. It is situated at the mouth of Malibu Creek and is a popular recreational destination. Its sandy shoreline and picturesque views make it a desirable spot for swimming, fishing, surfing, kayaking, and hiking. The state beach also has a bird sanctuary and offers a variety of activities such as bird watching, fishing, and walking trails. It is also home to a lot of wildlife species like whales, dolphins, sea lions, turtles, and many species of birds. I encourage you to please please please observe the wildlife from a distance and not to disturb or feed them.

Malibu Wine Safaris - Combining a unique safari experience with a visit to a winery, this tour takes guests on a tour of Malibu's rolling hills in a private 4x4 Land Rover. Guests can feed animals, drink wine, take photos, and watch the sunset over the vineyards.

Malibu Surfing Lessons - For sea-loving adventurers, consider this surfing lesson in Malibu, where certified instructors teach guests the basics of surfing. Learn how to paddle, catch a wave, and practice safety tips. Plus, you can take in the beautiful scenery Malibu has to offer. I have lived here my whole life and I am always asked this; no I cannot surf. I know, it is truly a Californian crime! I have even taken a lesson or two, but one day we can both learn!
The Adamson House - A Historic California mansion located in Malibu, California. It was built in 1929 by the son of the founders of The Malibu Potteries, Rindhard and Rhoda Adamson. It was designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style by the noted architect Lawrence Lee (who also designed the famous Beverly Hills Hotel). The house is now owned by the State of California for preservation purposes.

Hike at Malibu Creek State Park - Malibu Creek State Park is a state park that’s located in the Santa Monica Mountains in Malibu, California. Established in 1974, the 8,215-acre park stretches from western Los Angeles County through Ventura County. It is known as one of the most popular parks in Southern California due to its many attractions, including mountain biking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and the M*A*S*H filming location.
Hike Grotto Trail - The Grotto Trail is one of the most popular hikes in Malibu, California. Located along the Pacific Coast Highway in the Point Mugu State Park, the hike is a 4-mile out-and-back trail featuring a picturesque canyon with lush foliage and a stunning grotto. It’s best known for its unique rock formations and a magnificent waterfall. The hike is considered moderate and offers incredible views of the California coast, the Santa Monica mountains, and some of the most amazing nature you can find in Los Angeles. The Grotto Trail is a great way to get your heart pumping and your feet achy to experience the beauty of the California coast.
Solstice Canyon Trail - Solstice Canyon Trail is a popular hiking trail in Malibu, California, known for its lush greenery, natural rock formations, and historic sights. The trail is located in Solstice Canyon Park, an area with a long history of settlement, from the Chumash Native Americans to wealthy landowners. The trail meanders up a canyon, winds along a creek, and passes by several magnificent waterfalls before it ends at a beautiful lake. Along the way, hikers can see the ruins of a historic house, lush redwood groves, and the beautiful Thousand Steps waterfall. With its gorgeous scenery and historical landmarks, Solstice Canyon Trail is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and experience some of the beauty of California's coastline.
